Cantarriján
is the most western of Almuñécar´s
beaches and takes its name from the ravine which flows
into it.
It is situated at the foot of the cliffs in the midst of
the Cerro Gordo nature reserve and on the borders of the
Málaga and Granada provinces.
Access can be made
from the main 340 road by two different routes a km.apart
: one is surfaced but with steep gradients : the
other is a less steep dirt trail.
The beach is 350
metres long and has a surface area of.600 sq. Mts.
and is divided naturally in two by a crag. There are
all types of sand from fine and the western end to
coarse at the eastern end.
Because of the ecological
importance and beauty of its sea floor, together with
its proximity to the Cerro Gordo cliffs, it is of great
interest to divers.
The beach is cleaned
daily and the two beach restaurants, La Barraca and
La Bola Marina offer parking space, showers, sun beds
and sun shades.
