XX"ANDRÉS SEGOVIA" COMPOSITION COMPETITION

The La Herradura Local Authority and Almuñécar Town Council invite entries for the XX "ANDRÉS SEGOVIA" COMPOSITION COMPETITION, for classical guitar. According to the following conditions:

1. Each competitor may submit one work for guitar, which must conform with the following requirements:  entries from previous prizewinners of this Competition will not be accepted.

a) The composition must not previously have been published, performed publicly nor registered with any recording company.  The composer must send a signed statement to this effect.

b) The composition must have a maximum duration of ten minutes.

c) The score should show the title of the work and be signed with a pseudonym, and should be accompanied by:

  • A sealed envelope containing the composer's name and address and a recent photograph
  • A summary of his Curriculum Vitae, and the declaration signed by the composer (see (a) above).
  • The pseudonym and the title of the   work should be written on the outside of the envelope.
  • A recording of the work on a cassette tape or compact disk.

d) These materials and documents should be sent by registered post to:

The last date of posting for Competition entries will be 1 November 2007. (Entries bearing this postmark will be accepted.)

2). Any works submitted may be recovered within a maximum period of two months from the date on which the Competition ends, except for the prize-winning work which will remain in the possession of the La Herradura Local Authority.

3) The Jury's decision will be announced during the XXIII "ANDRÉS SEGOVIA" INTERNATIONAL CLASSICAL GUITAR COMPETITION held in La Herradura - Almuñécar.  The Jury reserves the right not to award the prize if the standard of the entries is not sufficiently high.  The Jury's decision is final.

4) The value of the Prize will be 2.000 (two thousand) euros.

5) The La Herradura Local Authority and the Almuñécar Town Council will be responsible for having the prize-winning work published, using the music publishers E.M.E.C.

6)The composer will retain copyright and whenever the work is performed, he must ensure that the programme includes the following text: "WINNER OF THE XX "ANDRÉS SEGOVIA" CLASSICAL GUITAR COMPOSITION COMPETITION" (La Herradura - Granada.  2007)

7) The prize-winning work will constitute the set piece in the Second Qualifying Round of the XXIV "ANDRÉS SEGOVIA" INTERNATIONAL CLASSICAL GUITAR COMPETITION;the performer giving the best interpretation will receive a the “LEO BROUWER” SPECIAL PRIZE of 700 €
